Gossip Girl is an American drama which first aired on the screens back in 2007. The show is based in New York City and in particular the Upper East Side and portrays the luxury life of wealthy teens. It is set around social media where a mysterious "Gossip Girl" sends out scandalous blasts about the people of Manhattan. Anyone can text gossip girl to give her information to send out a blast. When she sends out these blasts all the teens get it which causes huge drama in the show, as the information is usually correct and a secret that the teens don't want anyone else to know about. The show really portrays the huge popularity of social media among young people today and how fast everyone can know what your doing at the click of a button.

In the above picture, are two of the main characters in the show; Serena and Blair reading a gossip girl blast. The show is dramatic and all about the wealthy, maybe spoilt teens, but it is a great show to watch, especially if your someone that was into the O.C before.

  1. Ainé this is a fantastic example of how big online media is after becoming! The speed at which everyone gets each blast Gossip Girl sends out just shows you how time-effective social media is!I love when you see all the characters simultaneously picking up their phones as soon as the blast is sent out!

  2. I know I love how everyone's phone beeps at the same time and they all get the blasts. It's very effective. I think it can kind of be compared to Facebook a little bit, because if someone updates their status, anyone who is on Facebook will know pretty much straight away as well. Online media is huge now!
