Fade Street

Reality television programmes seem to have taken over our TV screens over the last few years and one of the newest reality shows to hit our screens is "Fade Street." This is like an 'Irish' version of the Shows like 'Laguna Beach', 'The City' and 'The Hills' in America. It is based in Dublin and follows the personal lives of 4 young girls, Louise, Vogue, Dani, and Cici. These are the main people in the show but there is many others as the girls are followed around at their jobs, house and social lives.

Louise is an intern at Stellar, a magazine company, Vogue is a DJ and planning on pursuing an acting career, Dani is working at Dublin Ink and is hoping to become a tattoo artist, and then Cici is still at college at DIT and is a club promoter.  The show shows us the drama in these girls lives, including, nights out, work problems, college problems and particularly drama when the girls are out and about and meeting new people, and drama regarding boys of course. Wouldn't be reality if there wasn't problems like that!

The show has only been on our screens a few weeks, and to be honest it took me a while to get into it. I watched the first episode and didn't think the show was great so I stopped watching it. However I have began to watch it again and it is really starting to grow on me. It is becoming more popular now as the weeks go on, more and more people are beginning to talk about it.

  1. I must say I haven't gotten into Fade Street yet, I was a big fan of the Hills and hate how RTE are trying to make an Irish-not as good version! I spotted the instant similarity when the girls were interning in Stellar which was like when Lauren and Whitney were interning in Teen Vogue in the first season of the Hills. Some of my friends are really addicted to watching Fade Street though so its more than likely if you give me a week or two I'll be addicted as well. Its interesting now in that most T.V. shows are now 'reality' T.V. I watch most T.V. shows online now, I wonder will the internet completely eliminate the need for T.V.'s?

  2. Yes, I agree with you Marian, Fade Street is nowhere near as good as the Hills was. The Hills was full of glamour and famous people attending Hollywood parties, whereas Fade Street is not half as glamorous. However, I do like reality TV shows so I'm going to give this one a try and see how it goes. I feel the internet may completely aliminate the need for TV's as I myself watch all my shows online, at a time i fins convenient.
